Running Ground

The large Sherman + Reilly Running Ground is designed for EHV. The need for this developed since the construction of new power lines on the same right of way with existing energized EHV transmission lines. Model No. R-6201-A is equipped with heat treated aluminum alloy rollers for use on electrical conductors. Model No. R-6201-D is equipped with galvanized ductile iron rollers for use on pulling lines or static wires.

Both models accommodate wire sizes from 3/8″ to 2″ outside diameter. The unit applies a force on a 45˚ angle which permits passing swivels, pulling socks, sleeves, etc. Heat treated aluminum alloy is utilized throughout except for pins and springs, which are chrome vanadium steel.

It is our recommendation that if one of our running grounds sees an energized condition that it
gets disposed of and new one purchased. We will not repair units that have seen these types of
energized conditions.
